Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
Main goal of this research is to detect the molecular oxygen in biosamples using muon method to apply the muon method in cancer research. The long-term goal is to apply sensitive probe of muon for early diagnosis and management of cancer. Since the water and molecular oxygen are existed in the biosamples, I have planned to perform systematic study starting from water, oxygen dependent in water, buffer and biosamples. So far, I have studied the muon and muonium behavior in water and ice and explained the data satisfactorily using proposed new model. As a next step, the detection of oxygen in biosamples (hemoglobin, blood plasma) and inhomogeneous system of hemoglobin and blood plasma will be performed within the project period.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.
Reason
In the proposal, I proposed to study directly form biosamples (hemoglobin, bloodplasma, etc.) but when study was started, temperature dependent new and curious data was found in water. Since water and oxygen are existing constituents in biosamples, I started study from water. It makes slightly delay in progress.

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
Oxygen dependent muon behavior in water, buffer, hemoglobin, blood plasma and inhomogenous system will be performed. A proposal at MLF for 2023A round of beamtime and another beamtime proposal at RIKEN-RAL have already got approved.

Causes of Carryover |
I will use the amount in assigned and planned fiscal year.
