Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The purpose of this study was to use the newly developed "IANB device" clinically and investigate its efficacy and adverse events. The procedure was judged to be successful if the pain disappeared and an elevation was observed in the sensation threshold on the lower lip. All subjects did not require adjustment of the IANB device. In all data, a significant elevation in sensation threshold on the lower lip and the disappearance of pain were observed. Three of the five subjects reported having tongue numbness. No notable complications were noted. The appropriate type, concentration, and dosage of local anesthetic must be considered for use in general dental treatment and oral surgical procedures. Our findings suggest the IANB device is useful for eliminating errors between operators, enhancing safety, and improving the success rate when compared to the conventional method.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
