Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In Le Fort I osteotomy, a type of surgery for jaw deformity, CAD/CAM technology is used as a method to reproduce preoperative virtual operations during surgery. However, it was difficult to confirm during surgery whether the surgery was being performed as planned. Therefore, we developed a method to perform surgery while wearing a head-mounted display equipped with mixed reality technology during surgery and superimposing a 3D hologram created from the preoperative virtual operations onto the surgical field. As a result, the reproducibility and accuracy of the preoperative plan when moving the maxilla was improved, and it was suggested that this could become a universal surgical procedure regardless of years of experience.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
