Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
As described in proposal, first year aim to identify the median nerve changes of different computer tasks at traditional vs non-standard workplace. Two experiments were conducted with focus on pointing devices and contact pressure. Both experiments measured the upper quadrant muscle activity, and computer work performances. Ultrasound images of the median nerve was collected on second experiments. The main parameters include the influence factor of pointing devices on the contact pressure, muscle activity characteristics, median nerve morphological changes and computer work performances. Results from experiment 1 were presented in one international conference and one Japan domestic conference.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.
Reason
Although experiments and data collection are completed for first year plan. However, the experiments were delayed due to COVID-19 and in-person experiments were restricted. Therefore, data analysis for experiment 2 such as ultrasound image analysis and EMG analysis are delayed.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
To complete data analysis and prepare manuscript submission.
|
Causes of Carryover |
The incurring amount is needed for 1. To purchase equipment to conduct experiment. The desired experiment measurement tools are unable purchase due to customize complexity. 2. English proofreading services for manuscripts 3. Article processing charge (APC) for journal publication
