Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
In 2022, the following achievements were reached: 1. The data with students' programs and corresponding grading results and comments for each has been collected. It is from two registered class homework assignments in the author's university. 2. A software engineer (Victor KHAUSTOV) was hired for about six months to process the data mentioned in "1". The processed data has been anonymized with the students' names and ID numbers. Additionally, a machine-learning environment has been set for data training. 3. The paper ("A Model to Automatically Evaluate Beginners Programs Based on Syntactic Knowledge Point and Deep Learning Technology") has been published in an international conference proceeding ("2022 Joint 12th International Conference on Soft Computing and Intelligent Systems and 23rd International Symposium on Advanced Intelligent Systems").

2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
In FY2022, I presented one of the research results in an international conference held in Ise, Mie Prefecture in Japan. By participating in the conference, my ideas for conducting this project have been extended. The conference proceedings paper mentioned above has been invited for publication in a Journal.

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
In FY2023, I will work on extension of the conference paper for the Journal. Additionaly, I am planing to do one or two more experiments and present the experimental results in another international conference.

Causes of Carryover |
The grant money for the next fiscal year (FY2023) will be used based on the following: 1. I am going to target a Journal to present the current experimental results. The money will be used to pay for the registration fee for the journal paper. 2. I am going to purchase a powerful laptop with a GPU for training the collected data. The money will be used to buy the necessary equipment. 3. I am going to conduct one or two more experiments. The experiment results will be presented at an international conference. The money will be used to pay for the conference registration fee and travel.
