Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
We have identified that poor social planning and implementation are the root problems in creating a sustainable off-grid electrification systems. To address this problem, we have developed the socio-techno-economic assessment method last year and publish it in an international peer-reviewed open-access journal article this year.
To test the robustness of the developed method, we replicated the study in different environmental settings. Some of the case studies have been presented at international conferences. Furthermore, as the ultimate goal of the study is to set a foundation for smart communities, review studies on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) for sustainable societies have been performed and published. This year, some of our research results have been awarded the best paper and presentation at international conferences.
Some additional papers containing the replication of the study, spefically on the fishery and remote island communities, are still under review. These are extensions of the study and will be completed after the project period. In addition, a preceding kakenhi project on AI topics has been initiated as a follow-up of this study.
