Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
In FY 2021, I retrieved comprehensive background information of hotel robot-related literature in different databases such as Scientist Direct, Web of Science, and Google Scholar and summarized the literature by different themes/applications. In September 2021, I conducted six interviews relating to the topic hotel robot in Greater Bay area (i.e., Shenzhen & Macao, China) with academic professionals who are experts specialized in information and communications technology. In addition, I conducted questionnaire surveys with Henn na Hotel staff from eight Henn na hotels in Tokyo in December 2021 and seven Henn na hotels in Kansai areas in April 2022 and collected a total of 116 valid questionnaires.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
Overall, the research was carried out smoothly as planned, but still affected by the pandemic a bit. Interviewees conducted among academic professionals were conducted as planned. However, affected by the pandemic, the sequence of conducting surveys with consumers and hotel staff were changed. Initially, surveys among consumers were planned to carry out first in December 2021, the reality is questionnaire surveys were conducted among hotel staff first.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
My future research plan is to continuing collecting data of Henn na Hotel staff within Japan (i.e., Northeast area), and extend the data collection (i.e., questionnaire survey) among Henn na Hotel staff in Seoul, Korea and New York, USA.
I will also conduct questionnaire survey or interview in robot hotel(s) in Hong Kong for comparison purpose.
Based on the theory of Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), I will extend and propose a Robot Service Acceptance Model (RSAM) model within hospitality context.
|
Causes of Carryover |
Affected by COVID-19, questionnaire survey plan from the perspective of consumers could not be carried out as planned. Hence, the amount will be added to this year's budget to conduct questionnaire survey among consumers. Questionnaire survey among consumers will be carried out from the coming December 2022 to March 2023 either on-site (i.e., Henn na hotels in Japan) or online platform (i.e., SurveyMonkey, Sojump) depending on the pandemic situation.
