Outline of Final Research Achievements

This study revealed details of compositional shift in oral indigenous microbiota of allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation patients. We also identified non-oral bacterial taxa colonizing disrupted oral microbiota in frail elderly adults and an association between their colonization and the hosts’health status. These results suggest that oral cavity could be a reservoir of unexpected bacterial taxa in compromised patients and frail elderly adults.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
