Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The proliferation of social media has made diverse information easily accessible. However, ironically, it has also led to the fragmentation of information where individuals only see what they want to see. This fragmentation has given rise to various social issues, including societal division. To address these problems, it is essential to consider the psychological factors of users in the dissemination of information on social media. This study aims to understand the structural phenomena behind the fact that disseminating correct information does not always lead to positive outcomes. This is based on the incident during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, where correcting fake news about a toilet paper shortage actually accelerated panic buying. We propose effective countermeasures based on this understanding.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
