Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
The process of creating photogrammetry models of pithouses and deriving material measurements from those scans was a challenge. Although there were a number of technical difficulties at first, techniques improved throughout the project. Improvements in the processing of 3D models for the purposes of material measures were made, allowing for faster processing times.
Due to covid 19, arranging site visits was difficult, resulting in significantly fewer pithouse scans than intended. To date 12 pithouses have been scanned, including a variety of different pithouse configurations and construction techniques, creating an initial foundation to begin comparing pithouse types.
The project was introduced to the public through several educational workshops.
