Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
The research project has produced useful results. First, two papers were presented at international conferences on English language teaching and applied linguistics, such as the conference of the American Association for Applied Linguistics (AAAL) and the Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) International Convention and English Language Expo. Second, the main study was completed. The findings showed that the students’ exposure to diverse varieties of English influenced their globally-oriented attitudes negatively. The qualitative data supported the aforementioned results, showing the crucial role of their mindsets that are deeply rooted in society. Third, to reach a wider audience, I submitted two articles for review to international journals.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
Both pilot and main studies were completed. I am working on a book chapter that should be ready to submit by the end of this month. The chapter focuses on English language teaching, language attitudes, and communities of practice.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
I will complete two more articles. These articles focus on quantitative research (e.g.,development and validation of a new questionnaire). I plan to present further findings at international conferences.
|
Causes of Carryover |
In the data collection and analysis, Mplus (a statistical modeling programme) was not required since some statistical techniques were not used in the study. I plan to purchase more books needed to write research articles.
