Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
I successfully developed a novel cubic phase of the ferrimagnetic Heusler compound Mn2FeGa (MFG). By using synchrotron and other experimental techniques, I have been able to show that this phase exhibits high chemical ordering, and along with theoretical calculations show that this material is likely to be highly spin polarized. Furtheremore, large PMA has been observed in stoichiometric MFG and all these results suggest a material which is very suitable for spintronic applications such as MRAM. These results have led to a publication which is currently under review as well as a patent for MFG. Furthermore these results have been presented at several national conferences and further results will be used for a separate publication currently in preparation.
