Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study was conducted to (1) clarify the validity of physical activity measurement using activity meters in stroke victims and (2) clarify physical activity indices related to functional recovery in stroke victims in a multicenter prospective study. The results of Study 1) indicated that the physical activity scale, whether worn on the paralyzed or non-paralyzed side, can estimate activity intensity with relatively high accuracy and is valid enough to be used in clinical practice. Study 2) showed that high light-intensity activity bout is important for gaining independent walking in stroke victims who are not walking independently, and that the cutoff value for light-intensity activity at the time of admission to a recovery ward that predicts gaining independent walking is about 20% (AUC: 0.76).

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
