超低消費電力光配線のための集積フォトニクスの進化

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

研究代表者の提案したMEMS 構造集積化による絶対波長安定化(アサーマル)面発光レーザアレイ,光群速度低下させて素子サイズを大幅に小型化して高速化を図るスローライト光検出器/光変調器をキイデバイスとして,その並列アレイ化,多波長集積化,超高速化,低消費電力化を進めて,現状技術の100 倍から1000 倍の超大容量(100Gbps-1Tbps)の光リンク/光配線のための革新的な集積光デバイスの開発を行い,高速化と低消費電力化を両立する集積フォトニクスの進化を目指し,平成26年度は,以下の研究成果を得た.
波長850nm帯面発光レーザにMEMS構造を集積したアサーマル面発光レーザを製作し,小さな波長温度係数を実現すると同時に,カンチレバー構造に静電力を印可することで,30nmを超える波長可変動作を実現した.また,面発光レーザにスローライト導波路を直接結合する集積手法を用いて,面発光レーザに横方向結合共振器を構成し,面発光レーザとしては,世界最速の変調帯域30GHzを超える高速変調動作と40Gbpsの大信号変調動作を実現した.理論的には,強結合光共振器により50GHzを越える高速動作の可能性を示した.さらに,面発光レーザに超小型電界吸収光変調器を集積した変調器集積光源を実現し,1V以下の低い変調電圧で変調帯域20GHz以上,25Gbpsの低電圧大信号変調を実現するとともに,光変調器の共振効果を併用することで広域側の変調感度を増大し,小信号変調帯域を30GHzまで拡大することに成功した.一方,スローライト導波路の巨大な構造分散を活用することで,従来の非機械式の光ビーム掃引の限界を打破する高分解能光ビーム掃引デバイスを実現して,この分散素子を基盤として,従来技術では到達困難な180ポートを超える多数ポートでかつ小型の波長選択スイッチを実現した.
