マルテンサイト変態の低温異常―その普遍性と起源の解明―

Research Abstract

NiTi合金では150K以下で明確なマルテンサイト(M)変態が生じないため、低温域でのM変態は十分な研究がされてこなかった。近年、NiTiのストレイン・グラスやNiCoMnInのカイネティック・アレスト現象といった低温における異常な挙動が見出され、大きな注目を集めている。そこで本研究では、NiTi系、NiMnIn系、CuAlMn系、TiNbSn系等の代表的な形状記憶合金を対象に、主に液体窒素温度以下の低温域におけるマルテンサイト変態挙動を系統的に調査し、先進的なTEMを用いたその場観察により異常現象に伴う結晶構造や組織の変化を明らかにした上で、今まで不十分だった低温領域のマルテンサイト変態に関する学理の深化を図る。平成22年度に得られた成果は以下の通り。
1.基本変態特性評価:(Ni,Co)_2MnSn、Ni_2Mn(SbSn)系についてキュリー温度やM変態温度の測定を行い状態図を作成した。また、CuAlMnのM変態点や変態潜熱を測定し、変態エントロピー変化を評価した。
2.機械特性評価:手始めにCuAlMnの室温から液体窒素温度(77K)にわたる超弾性特性を評価した。
また、その結果を用い、クラジウス-クラペイロンの関係式より、変態エントロピー変化の温度依存性を決定した。
3.相変態の組織学的評価:30Kから室温の温度範囲内で、使用できるTEM用試料ホルダーを導入し、低温域におけるその正常な動作を確認した。
4.極低温機械試験システムの導入を行い、液体ヘリウム温度で機械特性評価が可能となった。
