二酸化炭素排出削減に資するナノヘテロ組織構造制御による家庭用燃料電池デバイス設計

Research Abstract

平成24年度までに、計画どおり、酸化物固体電解質膜の作製を行い、その電極界面内に埋もれた界面構造の特徴を、TEM-EELSを用いて解析した結果、従来、知られていなかった、超構造の形成が確認され、さらに格子計算プログラム(GULP)を用いた会合酸素欠陥構造シミュレーションにより、超構造の特徴を明らかにした。こうした電極/酸化物電解質間での元素の拡散により、低下する化学機能を電極/酸化物の界面の欠陥構造を最適化することで、改善する試みをした結果、Pt-CeOxナノ粒子ヘテロ界面では、電極活物質/酸化物電解質間における拡散を経て、Pt”Ce-Vo‥-Ce’Ceクラスターが会合しC型希土類類似酸素欠陥構造を有するヘテロ界面が形成されること。このPt-CeOxヘテロ界面内では、電位印加条件下では、電荷移動が容易におこり、CeOx中のCe3+及びCe4+間の電気化学的レドックス反応が活発化すること。それらの複合効果により、カソード環境では、CeOxが電極活物質表面の身代わりに酸化されることで、電極活物質表面の本来の電極性能を引き出すことができることを、その場XAFS観察などにより明らかにした。平成24年度は、こうした成果を、米国化学会などをはじめとする国際誌に12報、国内誌1報、口頭発表10件(3件の招待講演を含む)、特許出願4件及びプレス発表1回を通して発表し、成果の普及に努めた。また、この成果をもとに、W-CeOx電極界面及びPt-CeOxナノワイヤ界面においても、Pt-CeOxナノ粒子界面とは異なる欠陥構造が形成されるが、Pt-CeOxナノ粒子界面と同様な電極性能の改善効果が見出された。最後に、このPt-CeOxナノ粒子ヘテロ界面を、中温域(100℃以上200℃以下)無加湿燃料電池用電極として利用したところ、カソードロスが低減され、燃料電池出力特性の改善が確認された。
