| Research Abstract |
本研究ではこれまで自分たちの培ってきた高温高圧変形実験と精密応力測定の技術を集結することによって、地球マントルの深さ660kmでの粘性コントラストの大きさをはじめとする地球孫部で固体流動の果たす役割を実験的に解明することを目指している。平成25年度には、これまでに確立した高温高圧下の定量的変形実験技術に基づき研究を行った。
D-DIA装置を用いてhcpFeの剪断変形実験を行いこれによって発達する格子選択配向を直接決定し、地球内核の顕著な軸対称の地震学的異方性の原因をあきらかにすることを目指した。実験はSPring-8、BL04B1 に設置のSPEED-MkII-Dを用い、圧力約9-18GPa、温度723 K、剪断歪速度 2 x 10-4, 0.6 x 10-4 s-1の条件下で行った。その結果hcpFeの変形では底面すべりが支配的であることがわかった。これをもとに考察すると地球内核の異方性は、次数2的対流パターンでの変形でhcpFeの底面すべりが支配的となることで解釈可能である。
