南極―インド―マダガスカル地域の岩石学的精密解析とゴンドワナ超大陸の形成

Research Abstract

本年度は、平成22-24年度に採集した南極、南インド、マダガスカルの岩石の処理を中心に研究を行い、年度末までに180枚の岩石薄片作成、20試料の全岩化学分析、40試料の鉱物化学組成分析を行った。これらデータを検討した結果、南極、南インドの変成岩ともに、約5億年前の変成作用の年代だけでなく、32億年前、25億年前、7億年前といった異なる時代の地殻形成イベントを確認することに成功した。その他の成果として、南極・明るい岬からの900℃に達する超高温変成岩の発見、南インドのチャノッカイト（斜方輝石を含む花崗岩質岩）の相解析に成功して同様の方法をマダガスカルの岩石に適用、南インドから太古代中期の地質体（Coorg Block）の発見、南インド・Agaliから25億年前の海洋地殻の断片（オフィオライト）の発見、などがある。この成果は、ゴンドワナ大陸形成以前の南極－インド－マダガスカル地域のテクトニクスを検討する上で今後重要である。
また、平成25年に南インドの地質調査、さらに平成26年1月にはスリランカの調査を行い、約120個の新たな岩石試料を採集した。特に今回は堆積岩起源の変成岩試料を大量に採集し、今後は堆積物を供給した後背地の推定も考慮して、当該地域の広域的な比較を行う予定である。
本研究に関して、平成25年度に15編の論文を公表し、さらに４編を現在投稿中、５編を投稿準備中である。また、年度内に4件の 国際学会発表と7件の国内学会発表を行った。
