Research Abstract |
In the first step of the study, anti-CSPG4 antibodies, a maker for NG2 glia, failed to disclose constituent tumor cells in human malignant glioma tissues. We then characterized oligodendroglioma that express Olig2, a transcription factor acted on oligodendrocyte progenitors. Our study revealed that classic oligodendroglioma is a distinct monoclonal tumor that harbors isocitrate dehydrogenases-1 (IDH1) R132H mutation and chromosome 1p/19 co-deletion but lacks p53 and CIC expression.
