Research Abstract |
nNOS producs not only NO, but also ROS through uncoupling reaction. In this study, we investigated NO/ROS signaling, a novel concept for cellular signal transduction. In PC12 cells expressing nNOS splice variants, treatment with MPP+activated the NO/ROS signaling to form a second messenger, 8-nitro-cGMP. We found a novel signal pathway leading to cell death through 8-nitro-cGMP formation.
