Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study focused on sports talent identification programmes in Japan. A survey was administered to individuals who were not selected as sports talents (hereafter referred to as “non-selected person”). A qualitative analysis of the survey results indicated a high demand for support programmes for non-selected athletes. Examples of specific needs are “provision of information on sports classes and events etc.,” “improvement of local sports clubs etc.,” “improvement of programmes in schools,” and “implementation of sport events that require high school and university student participation.” The results also revealed that collaboration and system building through “local partnerships” involving local educational institutions, sport federations, local sport clubs, and so on will support non-selected person significantly.
