中世末の英文学における宗教と医学の共生的関係についての表象文化論的研究

| Research Abstract |
本研究では、病気、健康、生、死などの人間学的問題について、教会の考え方が支配した中世末のヨーロッパ社会に焦点を当て、中世末の宗教と医学・医療の接点を探り、文学作品、宗教書、医学書の新たな読みを提示した。
最終年度は、4年間の調査・研究を見直し、総括し、International Medieval Congress 2013において‘Mary in the Hortus conclusus: Healing the Body and Healing the Soul’を、また、The Medieval Translator 2013: Translation and Authorities;Authorities in Translation, Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (11July 2013)において、‘Mechtild of Hackeborn as Authority: The Middle English Translation of the Liber Specialis Gratiae’を報告し、さらに日本中世英語英文学会全国大会においてシンポジウムに参加し、研究成果を報告した。本研究の成果としてNaoë Kukita Yoshikawa, ‘The Translation of the Regimen Sanitatis into a Handbook for the Devout Laity: a New Look at the Kalender of Shepherds and its Context, in Alessandra Petrina (ed.), Medieval Translator XV: In Principio Fuit Interpres (Turnhout: Brepols, 2013), pp. 303-15,‘Post-mortem Care of the Soul: Mechtild of Hackeborn's the Booke of Gostly Grace', in Rachel Falconer and Denis Renevey (eds), Literature, Science and Medicine in the Medieval and Early Modern English Periods (Tübingen: Narr, 2013), pp. 157-68、及び『医療と身体の図像学―宗教とジェンダーで読み解く西洋中世医学の文化史』知泉書館、2014年3月が刊行された。現在、論文集Medicine, Religion and Gender in Medieval Culture (Cambridge: D. S. Brewer, forthcoming)の編集を行っている。
