Research Abstract |
This comparative study concerning Lafcadio Hearn' s most famous story "The Story of Mimi-Nashi Hoichi" (1904) and another Hoichi-story ("The Surprising Adventure of the Poor Musician") adapted about 1922 from Marc Loge' s French translation by Antonin Artaud shows, first, how young Artaud adapted Hearn' s Hoichi-story and secondly, why Artaud in his later years considered Dutch painter Vincent Van Gogh to be another Hoichi.
