Research Abstract |
In recounting our experiences, we not only convey information but also position ourselves in relation to others. This study examines identity construction by narrating in intercultural and online communication. First, it has been found that in intercultural communication, conversationalists may easily move beyond the categorical dichotomy between native speaker and non-native speaker, using other categories such as fellow researcher and colleague. Then, through the exchange in online community of narrative, it became clear that these days ability to adapt to media (or technology) is necessary.
