Research Abstract |
The research undertaken under the title given above deals with the non-standard characters used in the individual Buddhist scriptures as compiled by Japanese monks in the Nara and Heian periods. As for those from the Nara period, I have completed a monograph entitled A Study of the Private Notes to the Sounds and the Meanings in the New Interpretation of the Kegonky〓 華厳経.This will be published in June, 2013 by a press in Beijing. I have also conducted a series of studies dealing with the Sokuten 則天 characters and presented their results in scholarly conferences and published in academic journals. As for those from the Heian period, I have researched on the characters and philological issues surrounding the Hokeky〓shakumon 法華経釈文, a few results of which were presented in international conferences and published in academic journals.
