Research Abstract |
To learn the political activities of Chinese in the Americas and Hawaii during the World War II seems to form an important factor in understanding their anti-Japanese movements in general. Unfortunately, historians have not paid much attention to this field of learning. I have therefore attempted to present clearer states of their activities. For this purpose, I have focused on Chinese anti-Japanese movements in the United States, especially in San Francisco and New York. I have also revealed Chinese Hawaiians' anti-Japanese movements and their relation to Japanese Hawaiians. As for Chinese in Canada, I have examined their "the save-the-nation" movements, confrontations between them, and the actual conditions of conscripted Chinese. Through these investigations, I have got an overall perspective of the anti-Japanese movements in North America during the World War II. I have continued a research into the Chinese activities in Central America.
