Research on Activities of Penal Institution Visiting committeesBased on the Recommendations of the Correctional Administration ReformCouncil, Penal Institution Visiting Committees were created and started their activities in2006 .The purpose of this reform is to give information about management of prison to Japanese citizens. We researched the activities of the committees especially by examining an example of Yokohama Prison Visiting Committee in 2009. We found the staff of prison kept inactive and the members of the committees took initiative.
