Research Abstract |
Electrical resistivity, magnetization, x-ray diffraction, and x-ray diffuse scattering measurements have been performed in intermetallic compounds RNiC2 (R denotes a rare-earth-metal element). Charge-density-wave transitions and those precursor phenomena have been revealed. Incommensurate-commensurate transitions were found. The charge-density-wave states are strongly affected by antiferromagnetic orders besides a ferromagnetic order. Modulated crystal structure, density of states, and magnetic-field induced phase transitions were also studied.
