Research Abstract |
Sugar beet is known to be recalcitrant against callus induction andplant regeneration. Sugar-beet line NK-219mm-O is an exceptional line because it exhibitsexcellent response to tissue culture. Genetic basis of this tissue culture response wasinvestigated. NK-219mm-O was crossed with various sugar beet lines of poor tissue-cultureresponse. The resultant F1 plants exhibited good tissue-culture response. Nucleotidesequence of a gene whose expression is increased upon plant regeneration was obtained inthis study.
