Research Abstract |
This study examined possible influence of immune-endocrine interaction on life history of salmonid fish, with reference to smoltification. In the stressed fish, cortisol-receptor mRNA levels in leucocytes were not responsive to the in vitro treatment with cortisol. Sustained cortisol stimulation inhibited an increase in thyroid hormone during smoltification.
