Research Abstract |
We examined suppressive effects of Sohistosozzia mansoni infection on treptozotocin (STZ)-induced type l diabetes and spontaneous arthritis in IL-1 receptor antagonist-deficient mice. Schistosome infection significantly supPressed hyperglycemia induced by STZ. In the infected mice, pancreatic lymph node expressions of ・-cell toxic mediators were down-regulated in the infected mice. Th2 cytokines were dispensable for this anti-diabetic effect. Schistosome infection also suppressed hind paw edema in the spontaneous arthritis.
