Research Abstract |
To predict rupture potential risk for patients with thoracic aortic aneurysm, we calculated the maximal von Mises stress (Max VMS) of finite element models. Maximal von Mises stress were significantly different between two groups (groupA: impending rupture, groupB: elective repair). VMS values of most cases in impending ruptured group were larger than 0.5MPa. It may be possible to estimate a certain threshold of maximal von Mises stress which induces aortic rupture. This technique will be applied to aortic dissection model and post TEVAR model.
