Research Abstract |
HGFisknowntoregulatebranchingmorphogenesisoffetalmousesubmandibulargland(SMG).However,themechanismsofregulationofbranchingmorphogenesisarelargelyunknown.HGFweaklystimulatesbranchingmorphogenesisandinducedmorphologicalchangesofsurfaceofbudsofSMGrudiments.Byusingmesenchyme-freeepithelialculturesystem,wecouldobservethatHGFstimulatecleftformationofSMGepithelium.HGFalsoinducedEGFreceptor(ErbB1)phosphorylationbytreatmentofculturedSMGrudimentswithHGF.TheseresultsimplythatEGF/EGFreceptorsystemisresponsible,atleastinpart,forthestimulatoryeffectofHGFonbranchingmorphogenesisofculturedSMGrudimentsandcleftformationofSMGepithelium
