| Research Abstract |
To investigate a direct involvement of periodontal disease on metabolic syndrome, we developed ligature-induced periodontitis in rats. Serum triglyceride was significantly higher in periodontitis rats compared with normal rats. The mRNA expressions of TNF- α and monocyte adhesion to endothelial cells were significantly increased in aorta of periodontitis rats.
