Outline of Final Research Achievements

Cell-type specific transcription factors play key roles in determining cell fate through the regulation of gene expression. However, molecular mechanisms regulating the cell-type dependent activity of transcriptional factors are largely unknown. Our studies showed that ATML1 functions as a master transcriptional regulator for shoot epidermal cell fate in Arabidopsis thaliana. We developed new tools to identify key components that restrict ATML1 expression to the outermost cell layer.
