Research Abstract |
This research surveyed the gates of the grounds and the gates of thestreets[Kido] that had drawn in "Rakuchu-ezu (1637)", to examine the urban formation in Kamigyo of Edo period. The Emperor related facilities and temples and shrines of minority had the gates of the grounds, but court nobles and samurais were not drawn. The gates of the streets were drawn on streets of the around the ruins of Jyurakudai, Teramachi and Teranouchi areas that were modified at the end of 16th century. The gates of the streets that were drawn in the middle of the city blocks, they are town boundaries, which were provided in a location other than the intersection. As a result of the move of the communities or the gradual city formation, they are thought that it was set up.
