Research Abstract |
Intracellular calcium signaling during plant?pathogen interactions are necessary for early events leading to local and systemic acquired resistance (SAR). Plants over-expressed Calmodulin gene (AtCAMox) constitutively exhibited disease resistance against virulent bacterial pathogen, Pseudomonas syringae pv. tomato DC3000. The expression of SAR marker genes was elevated in AtCAMox compared with wild-type plants. These results suggest that AtCAM is a positive regulator of SA-dependent defense signaling.
