Research Abstract |
In vertebrates, embryonic ectoderm is fated to give rise to epidermis or neural tissue. We have shown that a novel one-pass transmembrane protein EIG121L promotes epidermal differentiation of Xenopus embryonic ectoderm. Our analyses also suggested that EIG121L binds to BMP receptors and has a positive role in BMP signaling during epidermal differentiation.
