Research Abstract |
To identify leptospiral proteins which function in cell attachment, we employed recombinant T7 phage and Escherichia coli which expresses leptospiral proteins fused with 10B capsid protein and AIDA transporter protein on its cell surface, respectively. We screened recombinant phages and E coli cells which bound to cultured cells but failed to obtain specific clones. We established a method of mariner transposon mediated mutagenesis in pathogenic and non-pathogenic Leptospira spp by conjugational transfer with E coli.
