Research Abstract |
Tumor suppressor gene, WTX, is most strongly expressed in hematopoietic stem cells(HSCs), and is likely to regulate self-renewal and maintenance of HSCs. Although we identified point mutations of WTX gene a portion of acute myeloid leukemia, mutant WTX was not functionally different from wild-type WTX. Rather, WTX was markedly down-regulated in T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia, where DNA methylation seems to play pivotal roles.
