Research Abstract |
Kidney stone resembles arteriosclerosis in the mechanism, calcification composition and epidemiology. Water including oxygen nano-bubbles(nanometer-sized bubbles generated from oxygen microbubbles ; ONB water) has anti-inflammatory effects. Based on these anti-inflammatory effects, ONB water has been reported as a useful therapy for atherosclerosis. Therefore, we investigated the inhibitory effects of ONB water on kidney stone formation using a hyperoxaluric rat model. Our results suggest that ONB water reduces crystal retention in hyperoxaluric rats due to decreased renal tubular cell injury and resulting expression of crystal binding molecules(osteopontin : OPN and hyaluronic acid : HA).
