Research Abstract |
Among Th2 cytokines, IL-4 and IL-13, but not IL-5, IL-9, or IL-10, induced a significant decrease of barrier function in cultured human corneal epithelial cells. In a mouse model of allergic conjunctivitis using ragweed pollen, allergen challenge caused a decrease in expression of the junctional protein, E-cadherin, by conjunctival epithelium.
