Research Abstract

I found that continuously feeding rats a diet containing EGCG reduces GIP protein level as well as alpha-glucosidase activities in the upper small intestine. These suggest that the reductions of the alpha-glucosidase activities and GIP protein level may lead to suppressions of postprandial hyperglycemia and hyperinsulinemia via regulation of small intestinal function.
