Outline of Annual Research Achievements

火星は生命の発生に適した大気環境を有したかという問いに答えるべく、課題AではCとNを含む火星大気の流出率と生命構成分子の前駆物質(H2CO等)の生成率の長期変遷を、課題Bでは初期火星における前駆物質の降下量とリボース等の生命構成分子の生成量を調査する。
課題Aの中性大気流出モデル開発では、CとNを含む汎用熱圏モデル[Nakayama+2022]を新たに開発して高XUV放射下における流出抑制を明らかにし、流体力学的散逸モデル[T.Yoshida+2022]を幅広い条件下に適用して流出抑制の検証を進めた。大気光化学モデル[Nakamura+投稿中a]を用いてC同位体比の高度変化を地表から熱圏に渡り導出し[T.Yoshida+2023]、熱圏-外圏DSMCモデルに下側境界条件を与える準備を進めた。イオン流出モデル開発では、初期火星MHDモデルを用いて流出率の固有磁場・XUV放射依存性[Sakata+2022]、IMF回転による流出率増加[Sakai+2023]を明らかにした。
課題Aの前駆物質の生成率見積りでは、大気光化学モデルにSEP降込みを組込み、HOx, H2CO等の組成変化を見積った[Nakamura+投稿中b]。
課題AとBの数値モデル群の観測検証では、MAVENによる分子イオン流出観測をMHDモデルと比較し[Sakakura+2022]、TGOによるCO等の分布を光化学モデルやGCMと比較した[N.Yoshida+2022;Aoki+2022など多数]。2024年打上げ予定のMMXの開発を進めた[Kawakatsu+2023]。
課題BのH2CO降下量見積りでは、初期火星GCM[Kamada+2022]を背景場に光化学モデルを実行し、降下量を見積った。
課題Bのリボース合成実験では、収率がグリコールアルデヒド濃度に依存し、pHが1変わると生成量が1桁変わることを明らかにした。

Reason

研究課題の大部分の項目において、当初の計画通りに成果を創出している。課題AとBの数値モデル群は開発・改良を予定通りに進めており、「研究実績の概要」で述べたように多数の学術論文として研究成果をまとめている。大気光化学モデル[Nakamura+投稿中a]、SEP降込みを組込んだモデル[Nakamura+投稿中b]は投稿論文をリバイス中である。他にも、2024年打ち上げ予定の日本の火星衛星探査機MMXの観測に備えてイオン観測データから中性大気の分布をリトリーバルする手法の開発を進めており、投稿論文の原稿を準備中である。初期火星におけるH2CO降下量の見積りも投稿論文の原稿を共著回覧中である。ホルモース反応によるリボース合成実験も投稿論文としてまとめる直前の段階にある。このように、ほぼ全ての項目において計画通りもしくはそれ以上に成果を創出し、学術論文としてまとめつつある。研究計画の初年度としては十二分の成果であり、おおむね順調に進展していると考える。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

課題Aでは、前年度に開発した数値モデル群の探査機観測による検証と更なる改良を行う。検証においては火星探査機TGOとMAVENの分光・粒子観測データとの比較に加えて、火星探査機MEXのサウンダー観測データも組み合わせて検証を進める。火星熱圏-外圏全粒子DSMCモデルに大気微量成分の計算を組み込むべく、動的負荷分散技法OhHelpの導入を開始し、並列化効率と計算効率の向上を図る。火星探査機MMXが2025年以降に観測予定の流出イオンのデータ解析に備えて、イオン観測データから中性大気の分布をリトリーバルする手法を確立する。さらに流体力学的散逸モデルに、前年度に開発した大気光化学モデルから得られた中層・下層大気の組成分布を組み込む改良を進める。
課題Bでは、前年度に開発した初期火星大気圏-水圏結合モデルに全球氷河モデルを組み合わせた計算を実行し、約38億年前の火星表層における降水・地表流水分布や地表面温度を求める。大気中のH2混合比を仮定して光化学計算を実行し、複数の条件下においてH2COの降下量と分布の見積りを行う。ホルモース反応によるリボース合成実験を様々なH2CO濃度やpHや共存鉱物などの条件において実施し、それぞれの条件におけるリボースの生成量を見積もる。
