本研究は、複数のコアを用いるマルチコア化と、複数の伝搬モードを活用したマルチモード伝送技術を有機的に統合させることで、光ファイバ通信の伝送容量ならびに伝送距離を飛躍的かつ相乗的に拡大可能な革新的技術の創成を試みるものであり、学術的ならびに社会的意義は大きい。

Scientific Significance and Expected Research Achievements

本研究は、将来のエクサビット級の光通信インフラ実現のために不可欠となる。また、新規な学理的・技術的基盤の構築につながることが期待される。
