Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究は、大量に副生しながら付加価値の高い用途が定まっていない鉄鋼スラグを可視光応答型光触媒複合体とし、炭素循環の要となるリグニン分解および水素発生に応用し、アップサイクリングすることを目的としている。
初年度には、鉄濃度の低い高炉スラグについてはこれをCa源としてハイドロキシアパタイト(HAp)を合成し、置換型あるいは侵入型イオン交換によってFe(III)をドープし、可視光応答型光触媒とし、Cr(VI)還元、水素生成、グルコースから酪酸への転換反応の光触媒としての効率を観察した。Cr(VI)還元ではCa源をCaOとした場合よりも触媒活性が高く高炉スラグ中のCaの反応性がCaOよりも高いと推察した。水素生成では生成効率が非常に低く、光触媒自体の特性よりも、添加する貴金属メタルの助触媒(電子メディエーター)の粉末としての属性が大きく影響し、高炉スラグを前駆体とする効果を見出すのが困難であった。そこでTiO2と複合化してH2生成反応に持ち込み、8000umol/gの水素生成効率得た。高炉スラグ由来のFe(III)ドープHAp単独触媒ではグルースから酪酸への転換反応には向いていた。HAp以外のスラグ由来成分が触媒の塩基度を高めることに寄与し、グルコースからフルクトースへの異性化の反応平衡を正の方向へ傾け酪酸の収率をあげることにつながった。HApへのその他の異元素ドープについては、アルカリ土類元素の代表としてMgドープを計算でこころみたが、バンドギャップの減少をもたらすとは予測されなかった。
鉄分の多い転炉スラグのほうは最初からC3N4と複合化し、C3N4単独触媒よりもH2生成効率を向上させた。これについては2022年度に論文公表した。この複合体はグルコースの酪酸への転換の選択性を上げることにも効果を発揮していた。

Reason

研究実績概要に述べたように、主要な目的に対して、複合体の合成、特性化、光触媒反応の効率評価は一通りできたと思う。
予想外のアクシデントとして、ロシアによるウクライナ侵攻の長期化によりXeランプが品薄となり、逆二重励起光音響測定用分光照射装置の導入が半年以上遅れた。年明けにようやく導入にこぎつけ、合成した一連の光触媒複合体の電子トラップ密度分布を測定し、一日2試料しか測定できない時間のかかる測定であるが、独自の特性値を一通り得た。
若手研究者(ポスドク、博士課程大学院生)4名を米国化学会(2023年3月末)にて発表させ、逆二重励起光音響測定用分光法による光触媒の特性化をアピールした。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

鉄鋼スラグ由来のFe(III)ドープHApとTiO2複合体を用いて、可視光照射条件で、水の還元による水素生成と、酸化分解による酪酸の選択的生成の同時触媒反応を試みる。Ti有機錯体による濃厚標準溶液をTiO2前駆体として、良好な接合と高い分散性を同時に満足するような複合体の合成を目指す。
