2023 Fiscal Year Research-status Report

Subjective efficacy: integrating body and mind into a model of voluntary initiation of bodily movement

Research Project

Project/Area Number 22K00007
Research InstitutionKanazawa University

Principal Investigator

Grueneberg P.  金沢大学, GS教育系, 准教授 (00757718)

Project Period (FY) 2022-04-01 – 2027-03-31
Keywordsforward gait / conscious performance / motor control
Outline of Annual Research Achievements

The project proceeds as planned.
Phase A (Analyzing voluntary initiation and forward gait): A.1 Publication of peer-reviewed paper on Husserl and performative intentionality. Analysis of the concept of the body schema. A.2 Analysis of referent control as a framework for the motor control of gait initiation.
Phase B (Initiation experiment): Finalized protocol. Design and production of three vibrotactile stimulation devices. Conducted one initial test measurement.
Phase C (Integrative model of voluntary initiation): C.1 Analysis of Fichte's transcendental account of action and perception. Published paper on an abductive model of action.

Current Status of Research Progress
Current Status of Research Progress

2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.

Reason

The conceptual work proceeds as planned. The transcendetal foundation and the motor control theory have been overviewed.
The experimental work is under preparation. The protocol and the equipment are finalized.
No particular problems occured.

Strategy for Future Research Activity

The next step is the further elaboration of the theory of consciousness and the motor control theory.
In 2024, the initiation experiment will be conducted.

Causes of Carryover

The amount has not been used for travel in FY2023 and will be used in FY2024 for supporting travel.
