Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
In AY 2023, I constructed a unique dataset of the near economic center (NEC) of a European country and combining it with the Penn World Tables database. By using the dataset, I drafted out a working paper: transmission of economic growth between neighboring countries in Europe. The study shows a country’s growth has a significantly positive impact on its neighboring countries. However, the impact is transitionary without affecting the steady-state growth rate of a country significantly. I also presented my two working papers at three international conferences to disseminate them.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
My research is progressing as expected. I have worked to draft out the second paper by constructing a dataset following the one I have constructed in AY 2022. I used it to produce the second paper in AY 2023. This is exactly the progress I expected and planned.

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
AY 2024, I will continue to revise and submit the papers I drafted in AY 2022-2023 to an academic journal for possible publication. I will use the dataset I constructed in AY 2022 to investigate “Is economic impact of a country on its neighboring countries in Asia permanent?" By applying the model I developed in AY2023, I will implement this year’s research to revisit the economic impact of a country on its neighboring countries in Asia. This would fulfill my initial research plan for AY 2024.
