Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
We were successfully able to create one of the plugins for the Moodle learning management system. This first plugin focuses on the scheduling of activities as this is a main focus of the project. The plugin allows users to schedule the availability of content over specific time periods. Over the course of the year, we managed to make version 1.00 available to the public via GitHub (https://github.com/marcusgreen/moodle-tool_driprelease). It is still in the early stages of development but appears to be promising.
Additionally, we gave presentations at Moodle Moot 2023 in Ibaraki, and JALT CALL 2022 to demonstrate the plugin with the developer and gain feedback.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
With the initial plugin in the early stages, we are planning to use it in various ways to thoroughly test the functionality of the plugin and to highlight possible improvements. However, use of the plugin won't be fully implemented until later in the next fiscal year. We are also currently scheduled to present at two major conferences next academic year, JALT CALL, and JALT National where we hope to further demonstrate the benefits of the plugin and raise awareness of its availability. While the current plugin addresses the issue of scheduling and content management, a plugin has yet to be developed for the randomization of content for the project as of 2023.3.31 (FY 2022).

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
In the next fiscal year, 2023, will focus on further developing the current plugin, Drip Release, and to start consultations and initial development of a second plugin to address randomization of content. We will be attending and presenting at conferences that can aid us in the development of the plugins and raise public awareness about them.
|
Causes of Carryover |
Our initial plan was to begin development of two plugins simultaneously in the first fiscal year. However, upon consultation with a developer, we decided to only develop one plugin first, and then start development on the second plugin during the second fiscal year (2023). We will use the remaining funds for updates and improvements to the existing plugin, development of a second plugin for randomization, research to trial the plugins and answer our research questions, and to present our project at workshops and conference.
