Outline of Annual Research Achievements

In the 2023 fiscal year, the plugin was developed to include new features. Group Allocation, First Checked (From the list of quiz instances, the plugin will affect only the quizzes following the first checked quiz). Stay Available after Finish (Quizzes are available after their final deadline has passed.) and Reset (Clear all data).

The accumulation of these features resulted in the release of an updated plugin, version 1.01, which is available to the public, GitHub(https://github.com/marcusgreen/moodle-tool_driprelease).

We gave presentations at JALT CALL 2023, JALT International Conference 2023, , and Moodle Moot 2024. Were able to give an in-person presentation with the developer and received feedback from other developers and potential users.

Current Status of Research Progress
Current Status of Research Progress

2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.

Reason

The plugin is available to the public in the form of v1.01. We have tested the plugin in our own sites, and other educators at other institutions are currently utilizing the plugin, and we are receiving feedback. There are some minor bugs within the plugin at the moment, however, these are not function breaking, so will be addressed at a later stage. We are scheduled to present our research at JALT CALL 2024, Nagoya, and we will be applying to other appropriate conferences as they become available. We will be further implementing the plugin into live courses for further testing and development in the coming semesters.

Strategy for Future Research Activity

The 2024 fiscal year will mainly focus on addressing the feasibility of a second plugin to add a randomization function to a similar version of the DripRelease plugin. We will be consulting with our developer regarding this. For the current plugin, we aim to promote awareness of its features, address any minor bugs, and to add further functions to make it more appealing and utilizable to a wider audience. We will also be attending conferences to gain insight to possible other uses for the plugin.

Causes of Carryover

We will use the remaining funds for updates and improvements to the existing plugin, development of a second plugin for randomization, research to trial the plugins and answer our research questions, and to present our project at workshops and conferences.
